domesticviolenceisviolencebuttonthumb Domestic violence means a violent quarrel between family members, of which affects mostly the wife and children.

Generally, it could be termed as: physical and emotional abuse. People who are going through this abuse are somehow passive and laid-back due to fear and uncertainty of what will befall them if they speak up.

So, they’ll rather persevere and go through all the smacking and emotional pain alone. It might sound primitive, like does something like this still happen in this modern age? It is still happening and almost common like Garri’.

They just wouldn’t open up! You will never get to know, until someday, things get out of hand and the victim dies or develops some medical condition.

I’ll like to adjure anyone who’s going through this and anyone who knows someone going through this to please be bold and open up! I know Nigerian police is an understatement, but report to the law anyway. That’s one of the many reasons we have police stations and court of laws.

If you think you’re not bold enough to report, I’ll advice you to run as far as your legs can take you. And when I say run, I mean, leave his house! Talk to someone (your pastor, parents) and make your reasons known! If you should die while enduring those beatings from your monster husband, even God will blame you for being stupid to endure such till death.

And for those little kids who can’t help themselves, but are going through this disaster in the hands of aunties, uncles or their ‘oga’ (those working as maids/house-helps). If you happen to know one, please, help them out. Report such cases and save a soul!

I was a victim of Domestic Violence and it affected my life (physically and emotionally) negatively. I do regret sometimes, but it’s too late! “Regrets and mistakes are memories made”.

So many souls have being lost to this heinous crime and some destiny deterred. It’s really heartbreaking. We can all curb it by raising a voice and kicking against it.

Let’s say NO TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE!!!
